Activ8 challenges you to be active every day

Did you know….?

  • Adults need to be active for at least 30 minutes a day, five times a week.
  • Children and young people should be active for at least 60 minutes every day.

Activ8 gives you 8 steps to help you get active and stay healthy:

  1. Move your body – you don’t have to play a sport to get active. Any type of movement is good for you –
  2. Be a leader – don’t wait for someone else to organise an activity – take charge by suggesting games and activities to your family or your friends.
  3. Create your own –Make up your own rules for a game – perhaps using and ball, a bat, a hula hoop or any equipment you have at home.
  4. Go outdoors – Walk to the shop, to school, university or work instead of taking the car – or just go for a walk in the park.
  5. Eat well –Eat healthily to maintain a healthy body. Swap a sugary item (chocolate, sweets or fizzy drink) for a healthy option such as a piece of fruit, or a bowl of unsweetened cereal.
  6. Involve your family – Get your family active. Why not go for a walk after dinner instead of watching TV, go cycling or play a friendly game in the garden or park?
  7. Be part of a team – Join your local sports clubs or physical activity group. By being part of a team you can make new friends, achieve new goals and have fun.
  8. Measure your success –Use the Activ8 diary to record your activities over one week. You’ll be amazed at how a little activity each day adds up to make you fit and healthy.
